About EITI

The Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) is the global standard to promote the open and accountable management of oil, gas and mineral resources.
The EITI Standard requires open information along the extractive industry value chain from the point of extraction, to how revenues benefit the public. By doing so, the EITI seeks to strengthen public and corporate governance, promote understanding of natural resource management, and enforce greater transparency and accountability in the extractives sector. In each of the 54 implementing countries, the EITI is supported by a coalition of government, companies, and civil society.
As the world becomes more digital, EITI disclosures also are increasingly moving online, making data more timely, useful and cost-effective.

The Challenge

  • Staging and live environments not segmented
  • Low security
  • Low uptime
  • Slow and manual code deployments
  • Incorrectly configured infrastructure
  • No scalability to manage traffic spikes

The Solution

ADM Cloudtech designed a new architecture based on Amazon Web Services’ two separate and isolated Virtual Private Cloud (VPC). Thanks to this design we were able to isolate testing and live environments with custom user policies, security, and configuration. New architecture enables controlling both environments separately, and by adding additional secure layers it is easier to protect against potential malicious activities. Distributing workload between multiple active Amazon Web Services EC2 instances and duplicate database server (Multi-AZ RDS) made the entire solution more reliable for the EITI employees and for the maintenance team.
If the infrastructure would nevertheless fail, the Amazon RDS would make an automatic failover to the standby, so that database operations can resume within minutes.
The new solution is more scalable because of the auto scaling feature that enables adding instances if the load should exceed the amount prognosed.

The Team

We formed a professional team of a cloud services architect, a system administrator, a back-end developer, a project manager, and a client manager.

The Benefits

After implementing the new AWS based solution, the EITI website is now safer, more stable with a better uptime, and more scalable. It is also important to note that the new AWS solution implemented by ADM Cloudtech is more flexible supporting additional services and enabling live updating. This helps to speed up deployment and reduce potential problems.
As a result, the new EIT solution is significantly more secure than the previous one, it takes into account the changing workload and, most importantly, always has up-to-date information available to the public.
